Clean the Golf Yard Upgrades Guide
Every stat explained and ranked for efficient progression.
The Upgrades menu is where most of your cash and Fragments go in Clean the Golf Yard. AverageGuyStudios designed progression around stacking collection efficiency — wider pickup, better sell prices, faster movement, and stronger abilities. This guide breaks down every major upgrade category on UPD 3.4, when to level each stat, and how upgrades interact with equipment and abilities.
Upgrade Categories Overview
Pickup Radius
Pickup radius determines how close balls must be before they snap into your inventory. This is the single strongest early-game stat because it multiplies every step you take. Higher radius lets you clear entire fairway swaths without pixel-perfect walking.
When to prioritize: Always first until mid-tier. Revisit after major equipment purchases because tractors benefit from radius even more than on-foot collection.
Fragment vs cash: Buy with Fragments when Fragment tiers offer larger radius jumps per currency spent. See Fragments guide.
Sell Value / Multiplier
Sell value upgrades increase cash per ball at the sell NPC. Unlike radius, sell value does not change gameplay feel — it silently boosts every sale.
When to prioritize: Second, tied closely with radius. If sales feel “small” despite collecting many balls, sell value is your bottleneck.
Synergy: Pairs with Earn Cash Fast route planning — high sell value makes long loops worthwhile.
Movement Speed
Speed reduces travel time between clusters and sell points. It does not increase balls per step unless paired with radius.
When to prioritize: Third after radius and sell value reach comfortable mid levels. Over-investing in speed early creates the illusion of progress while income stays flat.
Controller and mobile note: Speed feels stronger on larger maps — see Controls for platform-specific movement tips.
Inventory Capacity
Capacity lets you hold more balls before selling. Useful when routes span half the map and sell NPCs are far from dense zones.
When to prioritize: Fourth. Short spawn loops do not need capacity until mid-game routes extend.
Trade-off: Full inventory stops collection until you sell — balance capacity with sell point proximity.
Ability Power & Cooldown
Ability upgrades strengthen Slot 1 and Slot 2 effects or shorten cooldowns. Details per ability in the Abilities guide.
When to prioritize: After core collection stats unless an ability unlock is required for a quest or achievement.
Cooldown reduction often beats raw power for sustained cash farming.
Passive / Quality-of-Life Upgrades
UPD 3.4 may include auto-collect quality improvements, magnet strength tiers, or respawn awareness perks depending on patch notes — confirm live values in UPD 3.4. Treat QoL upgrades as luxury purchases after income stats cap.
Recommended Leveling Path
- Radius I–III (cash or Fragments)
- Sell Value I–III
- Speed I–II
- Radius IV+ until tractor purchase
- First tractor (Equipment tier list)
- Capacity I if routes lengthen
- Ability cooldown upgrades
- Speed III+ and Sell Value IV+
- Endgame radius and equipment tiers
Our upgrade tier list ranks every stat by return on investment if you prefer a strict meta order.
Cash Shop vs Fragment Shop
Both shops may offer overlapping stats with different prices and caps.
- Cash shop — steady progression from farming loops.
- Fragment shop — accelerated tiers from codes and spins.
Rule of thumb: spend Fragments when they unlock a tier cash cannot reach yet; spend cash when Fragment prices spike relative to gains. The Upgrade Calculator compares breakpoints side by side.
Upgrades and Equipment Interaction
Equipment like tractors applies your radius stat across a wider physical area. Buying S-tier equipment with D-tier radius wastes the vehicle’s potential. Always sync equipment purchases with radius milestones:
- Standard Tractor — mid radius recommended
- Turbo Tractor — high radius + mid sell value
- Mega Collector — near-max radius and sell stats
Common Upgrade Mistakes
Maxing one stat exclusively — unbalanced builds feel strong momentarily then hit income walls.
Ignoring sell value — collecting 200 balls that sell cheap loses to collecting 100 balls that sell rich.
Fragment splurge on cosmetics — reserve premium currency for radius and sell first per Getting Started.
Skipping codes before upgrading — free Fragments from Codes fund multiple early tiers.
After Maxing: What Changes
Endgame upgrades shift from stat gains to leaderboard competition — see Players. Marginal radius increases still matter for rank 100+ pushes. Join Discord for datamines when AverageGuyStudios raises level caps in future UPD patches.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What upgrade should I buy first?
Pickup radius. It increases balls collected per step and multiplies all future income.
Are Fragment upgrades better than cash upgrades?
Often yes for radius tiers, but compare prices in both shops before buying.
When should I upgrade speed?
After mid-tier radius and sell value. Speed without radius does not boost income much.
Do upgrades affect tractors?
Yes. Radius and sell value apply while using equipment. High-tier tractors need strong stats.
How do ability upgrades work?
They boost Slot 1 and Slot 2 power or reduce cooldowns. See the Abilities guide for details.
Where is the full upgrade priority list?
See the upgrade tier list page for ROI rankings on UPD 3.4.
